"IT" is that shiny new car. IT's that next girlfriend
or boyfriend. It's a million dollars, or several million.
It's that new job, those cool new clothes. That next holiday.
That next drink or hit.
In a way, IT's whatever you think IT is.
Meaning, "IT" is that thing that you think will
make you happy.
We're really searching for It all the time. Very often, we
think we've found It. We've found the girl, we've found the
guy . . . we've found that drug . . . we've finally made the
money, gotten the house. We're living our dream. And we think
we've finally arrived, we've found "IT."
For a while.
Then, the spell wears off . . . and before too long, we're
back to searching again.
We search through pills . . . therapies, religions, churches,
books, tapes, seminars, meditation techniques, all of which
seem to subtly promise that "This is IT"
- whatever it is that they're selling, that is it.
So, what is IT, for real?
After a while, the search can get desperate. If money doesn't
make us happy, what does? If fame doesn't make us happy, what
does? If we've tried everything, and the boyfriend, girlfriend,
the job, the money, the clothes . . . if none of this is "IT"
. . . the what is?
Is there even such thing as "IT"? Is life just
one experience after another, hoping for some happiness that
never really comes? Is life just like sitting in a train station
waiting for a train that never comes? We spend our whole lives,
searching for this elusive happiness that is always just around
the corner? Does it not exist at all, and life is just some
kind of cruel joke? Or if it exists . . . what is "IT"?
This is what LiveReal is about.
Many of us are smart enough to know that while money, fame,
security, appreciation, good relationships and so on are very
often really good things to have in life . . . at the same
time, they're not it. There's still something missing.
There's still something unsatisfied.
And there's this hunger to find it. There's this thirst for
something . . . something we can't put into words. That something
that will be the final relief. The deep happiness that doesn't
go away. That solid, real, ultimate state of being that is
the end of all our seeking and the answer to all our wants.
It's finally arriving in heaven; arriving home after a long
and difficult journey.
So, then . . . does "IT" exist?
Well, it seems to us that, if there is even a chance
that it does exist . . . then it's definitely worth
searching for. In a way, we're already searching for
it, and there's no way to not search for it.
So then . . . what is "IT"?
