The "Essence" of Religion

A Step Further . . .

Stellar. Here we go.

One of the very few things
that practically everyone agrees on in this area
is this:

There is a lot of phony, nonsensical, totally stupid, utterly moronic business that goes on under the guise of "religion."  A lot.

The evidence for this is all around . . . from the insane terrorists who blow people up to do what they think is "God's" "or "Allah's" will, to Waco, Jim Jones, and "Heaven's Gate" to the nutcase televangelists on cable t.v. . . . and on and on. That "there's a lot of phoniness in the area of religion and spirituality" . . . is, to most folks, painfully obvious.

To get a little deeper, though . . . it seems to follow that if there are so many phony religions, then there must be a real one. It make sense that there can't really be a false imitation of something unless there's something real for it to imitate.

So then . . . if there is such a thing as "real" religion . . . what is it?

(I know - it's yours.)

This is our mission: There is phony religion and spirituality . . . and there is real religion and spirituality . . . and we must - all of us - find a way to distinguish the "real" kind from the "phony."

So now, the question is . . . how ?
