Where Spiritual Giants Duke It Out

H. H. the Dalai Lama
Taking Hits

From different spiritual traditions:

The form of Buddhism that H.H. the Dalai Lama practices and teaches (the Gelugpa lineage) is a scholarly, monastic tradition that is ultimately concerned with study and specific discipline of conduct according to regimented rules of thought and behavior. It's a highly masculine, extremely philosophical practice. In other words, you don't see the Dalai Lama doing a lot of ecstatic dancing.

However, other forms of Buddhist teaching exist (some would say "higher" forms, and I would agree) that emphasize *living* the Buddha nature in a more spontaneous, whole-bodily way, a way that embraces and shines through "feminine" light as well as masculine consciousness. "Crazy Wisdom" teachers like Chogyam Trungpa are examples of these forms of Buddhism."
