Life is Like a Pop Quiz You Haven't Done the Reading For

We just showed up here one day, and we didn’t have a clue. Literally.

On the day we were born, we just showed up, and we didn’t have a clue.

If we’re going to take a hard look at life so we can hit an existential grand-slam homerun (or avoid an existential pooch-screw), we’re going to have to understand the game. We’ll have to understand the purpose and nature of it.

And that’s something most of us were never really prepared for.

Life is like a long walk into the woods, and we have no map, or canteen, or compass.

(Correction: we start out with no map, canteen, compass. But as we get older – especially these days – we usually wind up with too many maps, and they don’t all don’t agree, or they’re downright inaccurate. Or we have several compasses, and they don’t point in the same direction.)

It’s like we’re thrown in the middle of a game, but nobody really explained the rules, and (as if that wasn’t enough) the rules keep changing.

When we suddenly appear in life, drooling, pooping with abandon and totally oblivious…we don’t have the faintest wisp of a flea’s breath of an idea of what’s going on.

But by that point we’re already in the game, on the field. We have to figure it out. We have to try to understand what’s being asked of us.

So if life is a pop quiz we haven’t studied for, then…

What are the questions?
