What is LiveReal all about?

It's a headquarters for those looking for better answers to the Big Questions of life.

It's also the ongoing chronicles of a scrappy band of seekers on a quest to find the meaning of life or die trying.

To unpack this a little more...

One, it's about "getting in shape."

That seems to be a big part of finding better answers to the existential riddles life throws at us.

Not just physical shape. It's more about strengthening your heart, mind, and soul.

Call it "psychological health" or "inner strength." Call it "mental clarity" and "emotional strength." Just call it "basic sanity" that isn't dependent on pills or expensive therapies.

Or maybe just call it "existential fitness."

Two, it's about a Quest.

It's the "Inner Quest."

(-although that might sound a bit fancy.)

But it isn't "fancy."

It’s just a no-nonsense search for truth in the Big Questions of life.

Why? Because Good Answers to the Big Questions lead to Good Things.

Like what?

Like figuring yourself out, for example, is a “good thing.” To “Know Thyself” – and “become yourself” – is a good thing. ("The last great frontier is yourself.") And there’s more. Self-respect. A sense of meaning. Relationships that are whatever the opposite of "dysfunctional" is. Clarity. Genuine "happiness." The aim, in the end, at the most basic level, is a “good life” – the “life without regrets” or a “life well-lived.”

Ultimately, these matters are “spiritual.”

"Spiritual" is defined here as our relationship to ultimate matters and what transforms us.

The action takes place at the point where religion and science meet common sense.

Along these lines, LiveReal is like a small, cozy, philosophical resupply station.

It's stocked and open for those souls who have been wandering through the existential wilderness on a quest for treasure.

The work is to arm those brave and often solitary souls with tools – maps, compasses, blankets, canteens and such (of the philosophical sort) in order to fuel up with a few nuggets of clarity, insight, and companionship.

In the wild modern world – a place often riddled with counterfeits, booby prizes, hyped-up nihilism, mindless fanaticism, aggressive absurdity, and glorification of the shallow and meaningless – LiveReal is ultimately about a “way of life.” It’s a way of life dedicated to a search for truth, sanity, beauty, and in all things, the real.

(-and every so often, dumb jokes.)

The approach a little unique.

Our approach is no-nonsense, practical, see-for-yourself, fully compatible with reason and logic, and open-minded-yet-tough-minded.

It's about actively and deliberately searching for good answers to the existential riddles life throws at us.
